Lunch Tiiime: Exclusive interview with A.D. Birch !
Written and produced by A.D. Birch, drawn by?Guszulrus Zentlion, Lunch Tiiime is one of the successful webcomics on Line Webtoon.
Here are (some of) the secrets of Aaron Birch, writer and producer of this hectic webmanga !
Hi Aaron, pleased to welcome you on Art Of Webcomics !
– Where do you come from ??
Columbus, OH
– How old are you ? ( tell it or not !)?
Prefer not to say. 30’s.
– Influences ??
My work life, my friends, losing my job. Some of my more artistic influences are 90’s and 2000’s anime, such as Cowboy Bebop, K-On!, Ergo Proxy, Akira, and Neon Genesis Evangelion. I am also influenced by a number of novels written exploring the development of Artificial Intelligence.
– Art school or not ??
No
– Favorite digital art software ??
Photoshop
– Your working method ??
Freehand, Photoshop.
– What your webcomic is about, in a symbolic way,
the hidden sense ??
Our webcomic is about friendship overcoming hardship. It is about 6 girls that discover themselves, close bonds of friendship and even love. It explores how they learn that life can be very hard and very painful, but from that pain beautiful things can bloom. It’s funny and silly, but will also be dramatic and emotional.
We hope that our audience will fall in love with these characters we have. In a more practical sense, the comic features 6 college-age females and one male, all with various personalities, traits, and skills, mostly centered around STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
Each girl has been accepted into a private and prestigious Technical Academy for various reasons, and have joined the Computer Coding club to explore their talents and abilities.
– Tell us more about your main character, the hero !?
Lunch Tiiime features 7 “main” characters, a group of females (and one male) who join their Technical Academy’s Computer Coding Club to advance their technical skills and make friends. Each character has a rich background and many secret motivations for what they do. The chemistry of these diverse characters are the soul of the comic.
– How do you see your future ??
I have been working very hard for two years on this with one partner, and we hope that we can be featured by Line Webtoon, Tapas, or possibly publish our own some day.
We have no intention of quitting, and will continue to work very hard to produce a top-quality Webtoon for our audience. We’ve been waiting a long time for a chance like this, and very much want to succeed. We will put in the work. We hope that it is accepted well.
– Your next goal ??
We would like to be a featured comic on Line Webtoon, ultimately. Right now, we are just working on producing a quality comic every week for our audience who has been so kind to subscribe. We think that we have something very special here; a story that is not being told, but that people want – that is, girls finding very intimate and special relationships born out of times of strife.
– Advices for beginners ??
Quality is key – you must have quality first. After that, it’s about persistence. Nobody will believe in you. You must believe in yourself and what you have created. Always remember that you are creating something from nothing; few people have the will to keep going. It’s expensive, time-consuming, and people will doubt you every step of the way.
– Your technical secret trick ??
I have a number of templates I have created with Photoshop to help me save time, such as exporting files to the various types and file sizes required by Patreon, Line Webtoon, and Tapas.
– Your social links and website ??
